This is strawberry season which gives way to gerber daisy season which gives way to raspberry season followed by tomato season. Thanks to a little fermentation, wine and chocolate are always in season.
STRAWBERRY LEMONDADE
1 quart lemonade (32 oz) lemonade
1 pint strawberries, sliced (about 12 oz or 1 1/2 cups)
2 Tbs. sugar
5 mint leaves, chopped
1 fresh lemon, sliced
ice
6 ounces vodka or gin *
Place about 1 cup of the sliced strawberries in a medium saucepan. Put the rest aside for later use. Add the sugar, mint and lemon slices and stir. Cook the mixture over medium heat until the sugar has melted. Pour the strawberry mixture and the lemonade into a large pitcher. Add the sliced strawberries. Add ice, alcohol, then season to taste. Serve over ice.
*optional of course, but you can also add more – noone is looking 😉
